Farming Practices
Livingston Family Farms is one of today's premier farming operations. We strive to protect the environment by making conscious decisions in every aspect of farming. Our operation includes both dry land and irrigated land.
In taking good care of the soil, we are rewarded with high yielding corn and soybean crops. No-till farming allows us to grow crops from year to year without disturbing the soil through tillage. No-till has helped us to prevent erosion, preserve soil moisture, and conserve the soil, helping our farming operations to be much more efficient.
Today, we utilize mostly center pivot irrigation on our farms. Center pivots are much more efficient when it comes to the application of water to our crops, helping to conserve a very precious resource. Our operation consists of all late modeled John Deere equipment with the latest state-of-the-art technology. This latest technology has allowed us to implement variable rate application, increase efficiency, and streamline work orders across all our operations. This type of technology has allowed us place the precise amount of fertilizer, seed, and chemicals which helps with efficiency and decrease on overall input cost.
We strive to keep equipment up-to-date as it is imperative to our farming operation, as are employees, whose hard work and farming knowledge are as important to our success.
