Farming Practices
Livingston Family Farms is one of todays premier farming operations. We strive to protect the environment by making conscious decisions in every aspect of farming. Our operation includes both dry land and irrigated land.
In taking good care of the soil and we are rewarded with quality corn and soybean crops. No-till farming allows Livingston Family Farms to grow crops from year to year without disturbing the soil through tillage. No-till has helped us to prevent erosion, preserve soil moisture, and conserve the soil, helping our farming operations to be much more efficient.
Today, we utilize only center pivot irrigation on our farm. Center pivots are much more efficient when it comes to the application of water to our crops. We also operate using new John Deere equipment. This new type of technology has allowed us to input variable rate technology into our operation. This type of technology has allowed us place the precise amount of fertilizer, seed, and chemicals which helps with efficiency and decrease on overall input cost. We also ustilizer AutoSteer on all of our farm equipment. The use of AutoSteer increases our farming operations efficiency.
We strive to keep equipment up-to-date as it is imperative to our farming operation, as are our six employees, whose hard work and farming knowledge are as important to our success as every piece of equipment and technology that we use.
